Sporting fever to take over Middlesbrough shopping centre this summer

Children from in and around Middlesbrough will be able to enjoy a summer of sport at Captain Cook Square Shopping Centre this six-week holiday.
The free events launching on 1 August will take place every Wednesday between 11am and 4pm, with workshops at intervals throughout the day.  Families are invited to come along and enjoy a range of sports including basketball, boxing, fencing and football.
Wednesday 1st August – Basketball games
Wednesday 8th August – Football
Wednesday 15th August – Boxing
Wednesday 22nd August – Fencing
Participating children will be able to get involved for free and will be issued with loyalty cards on arrival, and those  who collect three stamps out of four could be in with the chance of winning prizes from the shopping centre.

Captain Cook Square centre manager, Lynn Stainsby, said: ‘’The circus last year was a great success for us and this year we wanted to do something different.
“With sport being so relevant this summer, we wanted to offer a range of activity to get the children outdoors and all for free! The loyalty scheme is a great addition to the event, as it helps to bring families back each week to visit the shopping centre.’’
